famous Haleakalā Sunrise Tour

  • Greeting the sunrise in Haleakalā National Park is one of the most popular and unforgettable things to do on Maui. Join Valley Isle Excursions and witness what many call “the most beautiful sunrise on Earth,” guided by professional, local experts who share the stories and legends of this sacred mountain.

For nearly 150 years, visitors have ascended Haleakalā to watch the sun rise over the clouds. But long before that, ancient Hawaiians knew this place as wao akua — the realm of the gods. Learn about the demi-god Maui, who, according to legend, lassoed the sun from this very summit to slow its journey across the sky.

Come explore the history, geology, and spirituality of Haleakalā with a guided tour designed for comfort, culture, and breathtaking views.

Translated from Hawaiian, Haleakalā means “House of the Sun”. As Maui’s most experienced volcano tour operator, Polynesian Adventure Tours offers the best vehicles, the most knowledgeable guides, and unmatched comfort on this early-morning adventure.

Your friendly driver-guide will greet you at your hotel and welcome you aboard a state-of-the-art Grech minibus with panoramic windows, USB ports, video monitors, and climate control. After watching the sunrise above the clouds, you’ll descend through the changing landscapes of Haleakalā National Park, stopping for a delicious local-style breakfast at Café O’Lei at the Plantation before returning to your hotel.

Valley Isle Excursion Reviews

My husband and I went on Valley Isle's Excursion to Haleakalā Sunrise Tour in Maui on 10/12/25. What an experience! We were over 10,000 feet high which made us above the clouds. That in itself was amazing. Then we got to witness the miracle of the sun rising by peaking through the clouds. It was breathtaking (which isn't even a strong enough word.)
